I know I’m about a week late with this recap but I’ve been on vacation and feeling lazy. Taking a break from the beach today to catch up on some fashion hits and misses. I, unfortunately, have to skip a lot of great looks like the Carolina Herrera dresses worn by Lupita Nyongo and Brie Larson last week, but the Ocean’s 8 ladies are so major, I couldn’t pass on them.
I feel like this is SO unexpected on her, however she’s been wearing a lot of jumpsuits on this press tour so I suppose it’s not that unexpected. I love anything with sequins, but the patterns and colors are really what makes this special. At first I was a little let down that the styling mimics the look book to a tee; even down to the hair style. But props to whoever styled the Zuhair Murad look book, because she nailed it and imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. If I had to change one thing, I’d add a great cocktail ring. Minimalist accessories and a busy jumpsuit deserves a big honkin’ rock once in a while.
It would be so easy to look at this and think, “Oh, congrats on finishing your first marathon just before the red carpet, Rih Rih,” but who else on this earth could pull off a foil blanket like this and make it look sexy. I managed to avoid any photos where her right breast was on the verge of busting loose, because I’m a humble fashion blog, not the Daily Mail, but this is so chic and sexy and I hope never see any copy cats because no one else can make this work.
This feels vaguely “Papal” to me. I get what’s she’s trying to do, but I’m just not feeling it. Great earrings though.
In addition to the pants fitting terribly, this is giving me some major Sam Eagle vibes…
There’s a really killer ear situation going on though:
I really love this on her. It’s so understated but dramatic. Not being fully lined is a big miss for me though.
I wish this is what she’d worn to the LA premiere, because is way more fab, but I feel like she saved this for London because that’s her turf.
